Come, See, Discover Ministry in Action

Come, See, Discover Ministry in Action, nine single weekend experiences designed for young adults interested in sampling ELCA mission development ministry waters, will be introduced across the ELCA in 2003. Co-sponsored by the Divisions for Outreach and Ministry, and hosted by most ELCA regions, these weekends will offer first and second career bound people a look at vocationally exciting ministry opportunities.

Adapted for regional focus, the weekends will offer in-depth looks at mission and ministry directed to unchurched and marginalized communities. They will include time for corporate prayer, sharing faith and ministry stories, and engaging aspects of ministry development with successful ELCA regional and national mission developers. According to project director Frederick Mason, "`Come, See, Discover Ministry in Action' hopes to provide interested participants with an experience that can clarify connections between their vocational choices and opportunities in mission development ministry. From these nine events, we hope to develop a data base of at least 100 participants who are interested in future leadership in the ELCA, and anticipate that some of them may want to prepare for rostered leadership." Mason added that another aim of the program is to further address the ELCA's need to increase its number of leaders among people of color.

Those interested in participating or nominating potential participants, or who wish additional information that pertains to their region's weekend, may also call or e-mail the regional contact person noted below.
