Help SEARCH Help Others

The Service of the Emergency Aid Resource Center of Houston provides several opportunities for helping others.

Personal Provisions for the SEARCH Shelter: SEARCH has a constant need for hygiene items. Our congregation has been asked to donate shampoo and conditioner. Seasonal items (umbrellas, gently used coats and jackets of all sizes, gloves, hats, etc.) are also needed. CTK has a collection box in the nursery for these items.

Donations of Hunting and Fishing Bounty: SEARCH is endeavoring to increase the protein in meals for their clients. If you have fishing or hunting bounty you would like to share, call Joni Robertson, 713-7752, ext. 164.

Catering Services: The Company Kitchen, SEARCH's business venture that helps fund education programs, provides job training and work experience for homeless clients. Since its public debut in July 1999, The Company Kitchen has catered more than 1,000 meetings and events. In addition, they also catered the SEARCH "Celebrate the Children" gala for 600 guests, the University of St. Thomas Senior Graduation Brunch for 2000 guests, and breakfast for the American General Staff of 1,500 for their Community Service Awards. Their clients include Baylor College of Medicine, ExxonMobil, and Christus St. Joseph Hospital Foundation.

Their assorted menu includes breakfasts, hot lunches (barbeque, fajitas, lasagna), boxed lunches with sandwiches (grilled chicken breast, apricot chicken salad, and roast top round of beef with sautéed onions), and cookie trays. Call Dewayne Briscoe at 713-739-7752, ext. 163.
