Adult Forum

The Adult Forum offers two classes in December:

• December 1, World AIDS Day, Michael B. Mizwa, chief executive officer of the AIDS Foundation Houston, Inc., will speak on "The Changing Landscape of HIV/AIDS: Local, National, and Global Perspectives." This candid presentation will provide a brief overview of the AIDS Foundation of Houston and its services/programs, as an overview of the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
• December 8. Mel Rosenbaum will speak on the German church musician, Hugo Distler (1908-1942). Distler's deep religious roots strongly influenced his compositional style. His works, few in number, are quite virtuosic. Unfortunately, Distler's works were stigmatized by the Nazi regime as "degenerate art." Unable to cope with the horrors of World War II, Distler committed suicide in 1942.

On December 15 everyone is invited to the Sunday Church School's annual Christmas pageant. No classes have been scheduled for December 22 and 29. We will begin our initial move into the new building on December 21, and the availability of a meeting place in either the Melanchthon House or the parish hall on those dates is uncertain.

Friday Morning Bible Study

Friday Morning Bible Study is held each week in the parish hall. The class focuses on the lectionary readings for the following Sunday. Snacks are served at 10:00; class begins at 10:30. Childcare is provided. FMBS will not be held December 27.

Adult Catechesis December 6-7

Adult Catechesis will be held December 6-7. This class, based on Martin Luther's Small Catechism, is open to inquirers, those seeking membership, and members wishing to refresh their memory on the basic tenets of our faith. You may sign up on the bulletin board or contact the church office, 713-523-2864, ext. 21. Childcare is made available when requested the Monday prior to the class.
