Lutheran World Relief is There!

LWR works with partners in 50 countries to help people grow food, prevent disease, strengthen communities, resolve conflict, and recover from disasters. This year LWR:

• worked through Interchurch Medical Assistance to allocate $42,712 for medical supplies for Palestinian hospitals and clinics in and around Jerusalem
• continued to help communities of Gujarat, India, which were devastated by earthquakes in 2001. Self-help groups assist women in improving their economic status; literacy and job-training programs help children and adults
• provided shelter, food, sanitation, seeds, and tools for thousands of displaced persons in Liberia through the Lutheran World Federation/Department of World Service
• worked with Refugee Women in Development in Afghanistan to provide skill-based training for women who head households
