Beverly Davis, a CTK member since 1987 and an active participant in service and care activities for many years, will assume the part-time position of Director of Member Involvement on November 1.
Beverly, who previously worked at DePelchin Children's Center for 11 years, will coordinate and facilitate the activities of the Service and Care and the Witness and Assimilation Commissions. She will lead efforts to strengthen CTK as the "Village Church with the Global Mission," emphasizing the congregation's role in extending hospitality and service to others, whether they are visitors at Sunday worship, guests at the Hospitality Apartments in the Medical Center, or hungry children in a faraway village.
To accomplish her task she will lead the congregation in more deliberate training programs for lay ministry (e.g., the Community of Hope), increase hospitality to visitors, and build member involvement in service and care. For example, she has already started plans for CTK to visit the Lutheran Center in Mexico City so that members may experience first hand the Mexican culture and faith, as well as its wealth, poverty, dreams, and friendship.
Beverly said that she was first attracted to CTK both because the beautiful worship services inspired her and the church offered so many opportunities for service. She said, "I hope to build on the already wonderful leadership we have in both the Service and Care Commission and the Witness and Assimilation Commission and to strengthen our hospitality to visitors and our connectedness to one another and the world."
