ELCA colleges and universities rank among the best in the nation, according to the 2002 survey in U.S. News and World Report.

For the past 3 years, Texas Lutheran University, Seguin, Texas, has ranked best among the liberal arts colleges in the West. This year, in the best comprehensive colleges category, it ranks third.

The survey ranks colleges and universities according to such criteria as academic reputation, faculty resources, selection of students, financial resources, alumni giving, and graduation rate.
