Individuals and congregations are invited to share their diverse gifts of word, song, and art as the ELCA begins an effort to develop a comprehensive set of resources that will succeed the Lutheran Book of Worship.
The current project, known as Renewing Worship, is a response to changes in the life of the church and the world. The goal is to renew the church's worship as Christ's mission is carried out in a new day. Renewing Worship will make available a series of provisional materials that will be tried and tested in a variety of worship settings. These trial-use resources will include newly developed, ecumenically shared, and recently revised texts, rites, and music. Materials will be available on the web site, www.renewingworship.org, and in print.
Original manuscripts, musical scores, photographs, drawings, graphics, and electronic files that celebrate the best of the church's heritage, suggest new possibilities, and reflect the use of the Means of Grace will be received and reviewed through summer 2005. For submission guidelines and further information, you may go to the website or call 800-638-3522.
The website also offers a form individuals may use to evaluate items that have been submitted. For example, the text and online evaluation tool for Holy Baptism and Related Rites are now on the website.
