Success at the Houston Food Bank

Submitted by Anna Stock
Twelve volunteers from Christ the King Church went to the Food Bank on March 11. Pastor Kathy and two young girls she brought along worked in the packing room, and the remaining nine volunteers joined nine students from the UH engineering honor society on the Family Line. In about 3 hours and 15 minutes we assembled 569 boxes and passed them down an assembly line to be packed with prescribed orders, to be sealed and to be placed on 16 pallets for distribution to AIDS foundations to feed families for a week. We worked hard, and we savored the 15-minute break, but it was very satisfying to accomplish so much. What else can you expect when Lutherans join future engineers on an assembly line project?!

Our next trip is May 13. We leave from the church parking lot promply at 8:00 a.m. and return about noon. Contact Anna Stock for more information or to volunteer.
