PATRICIA LOUISE BELL STONE, of Houston, TX was gathered with all the saints on July 10, 2010.
Patty was born November 15, 1947 in Columbia, South Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Luther Bell and Agnes McClure Bell.
She attended Brenau University in Gainesville, Georgia and was a graduate of the University of South Carolina. She was a member of Chi Omega sorority. She was an elementary school librarian in South Carolina and Houston before beginning her second career as a legal assistant with Conoco.
Once a librarian, always a librarian! Books remained a joy throughout her life.
Patty was a long time, devoted member of Christ the King Lutheran Church where she served on church council and participated in many of the congregation's ministries throughout the years.
Given the example handed down by her parents, she gave generously of her time to many organizations in Houston including Susan G. Komen for the Cure, where she served on the board, advisory board, participated in and led many committees and chaired the Race for the Cure in 2000.
She served on the Covenant House Guild, as well as serving as a gala cochair.
She was a member of the Advisory Board of the Baylor Breast Care Center and the Board of Representatives of CanCare.
Santa Fe, New Mexico held a special place in Patty's heart and soul. Santa Fe hosted the site of her honeymoon with Bob. They returned time and time again until they finally bought a second home there. They loved hosting friends there with their loyal and loving Covenant House dog, Santos, whom Patty adored. In Santa Fe, she enjoyed the beauty and peace of hiking, gardening, music, museums and galleries, and many wonderful friends.
Patty will be remembered for her amazingly rich friendships with a very diverse group of people from all walks of life, her gracious mannerisms, her zeal for life, her caring and compassionate ways, and her constant desire to help others.
She is survived by her beloved husband and best friend, Robert Wayne Stone of Houston and Santa Fe; her stepdaughter, whom she loved as her own, Kristin J. Stone; and her much adored granddaughter, Reagan L. Stone; both of St. Louis, MO. She is also survived by her brother, Thomas H. Bell; niece, J. Courtney Bell; and nephew T.
